Beating the House--Week 9

I'm certainly no Brandon Lang but have managed to string a few decent weeks in a row...Colts were pick-0f-the-week and covered easily...Giants let me down with that late score by Miami giving me another reason to loathe Cleo Lemon...thank God the Rams don't play this week so I can't go with them again...went to the Celtics last night, they look great and laying six points was a gimme...

Washington (-3.5) at New York Jets--The Kellen Clemens era begins for the Jets and will have to start without Lavernues Coles...Skins were manhandled by the Pats and while I still think they're not that good, they should be able to vent against the home team here...pick: Redskins.

Green Bay (+2.5) at Kansas City--Packers running game finally showed up in the form of Ryan Grant and Favre once again showed up as Superman...I see a MNF hangover here and a decent effort from the Chiefs with LJ leading the way...pick: Chiefs.

Arizona (+3.5) at Tampa Bay--Bucs let me down last week as they were not able to contain Quinn Gray...??? Kurt Warner still has plenty left in the tank and should throw a few bombs for scores...Cards defense is underrated and can handle erratic Bucs...pick: Cardinals.

Carolina (+4) at Tennessee--This will not be an exciting game to watch...both teams sputter on offense...Titans should have more success running the ball, pressuring Carolina QB (whoever it is) and controlling the clock...pick: Titans.

San Francisco (+3) at Atlanta--Falcons are rested and ready to go after their bye week...Frank Gore is still hurt and probably won't be able to contribute much...if O-line of Falcons can run-block and protect Harrington, this should be relatively easy for them...pick: Falcons.

Jacksonville (+3.5) at New Orleans--Saints are a new team as of late and look to continue their winning ways...a productive Marques Colston will help...don't expect another big game from him this week but I like the home team to outgun the Jags...pick: Saints.

Denver (+3) at Detroit--The vaunted Broncos D is up for another challenge...Dre Bly and Champ Bailey each got burned by Packer WRs...they better show up here...speaking of showing up, someone tell Jon Kitna Jesus told me it was OK for him to throw another TD pass this season...having a running game now makes them dangerous...pick: Lions.

Cincinnati (-1) at Buffalo--Bengals just puzzle me and their season is over if they don't win this one...panic mode better set in for Marvin Lewis...Bills have played well recently but won't be able to stop Palmer and his WRs...this is my pick of the week: Bengals.

San Diego (-7) at Minnesota--I mentioned a few weeks ago that the Chargers have finally decided to show up and play football at a high level...it continues here and this may be the lowest number we see on them the rest of the way...Brad Childress' inability to use AP should cost him his job...pick: Chargers.

Seattle (+1) at Cleveland--Won't be a lot of defense in this one...Browns are favorites again, who would've thought it to be possible? Anderson to Edwards is becoming a deadly combo...shootout game with the winner being whomever has the ball last...guess/pick: Seahawks.

New England (-5.5) at Indianapolis--Super Bowl 41.5 has arrived and should be the game of the year, playoffs included...winner of this spanks NFC entry in SB 42...you know what I'm going to say next about Pats winning and covering...stay the course...pick: Patriots.

Houston (+3) at Oakland--Both teams are banged up and desperate for a win...having AJ back for Texans helps but the return of Josh McCown should bolster Raiders offense and open things up for Lamont Jordan again...pick: Raiders.

Dallas (-3) at Philadelphia--Great matchup for Sunday night TV with baseball finally over (Sox rule!)...Eagles finally managed to put a team away last week...but it was the Vikes so it shouldn't count...Boys are rested and ready to lay claim to the NFC...only thing that could get in the way is Romo relaxing after new contract...pick: Cowboys.

Baltimore (+9.5) at Pittsburgh--Another good one for the TV...tough divisional rivals go at it...Steelers look fantastic on both sides while Ravens look mediocre at best on both sides...stays close until the second half when Pitt pulls away for double-digit win...pick: Steelers.

Last Week: 8-5 To Date: 62-47-7
